Day 3 – 2014 New Transformation

You can Either Make Exuses or Make It HappenMom told me in the last-minute that it’s my little cousin’s birthday.  Since I haven’t seen her since she was in Philippines for a few months, I just had to make the time.  So right after work, I catapulted to the other side of town and stopped by the Gold’s Gym in St. Cloud.  I knew I had only 45 mins to spare so I did my 35 mins cardio.  15% include @ 3mph. I was really surprised that the machine said I burned off 495 calories.  I’ve always been doubtful on how accurate those readers are but at the same time, I noticed that even at a steady-state, you can really burn quite a bit at an incline.

Right after spending some time with the family, I headed to the gym again for strength training.  Today’s the first day of my new split so it’s back and calves.  I’ve mainly concentrated on lats this time:

10 mins. warmup on the elliptical
Warmup set:
4 sets of Stiff-legged Morning Glories @ 12 reps

4 sets of Wide-grip Lat Pull-Down @ 12 reps
4 sets of Narrow-grip Pull-Down @ 15 reps

4 sets of One-arm Lat Pull Down @ 15 reps
4 sets of Wide-grip Backrows @ 12 reps
3 sets of T-Bar @ 10 reps

3 sets of Face Pull-Back @ 20 reps
3 sets of Stiff-Arm Pull-Down @ 20 reps

All-in-all it’s a great workout day 🙂 Even with family-time, managed to go around it and made time to get it done 😉

April 1st – First Day of My New Me 2014

April 1st, 2014

April 1st, 2014 will be the mark of the first day of my new transformation in 2014.  I took a front and back before pic to compare with for the next few weeks coming up.  As I’ve mentioned before, I would post a question for IFBB Pro Joseph Palumbo regarding helping me out with this in his forum.  [Post]

I must admit, posting my before pics before shedding has always been an embarrassing time for me because I don’t like how I typically look with all of the fat on top. I can’t see my muscles and what I’ve worked on.  And let’s all say that society really does have a way of making you feel self-conscious about it.  Just glad to have friends who are very supportive and tell me that this is just the beginning of a new me and to stop knocking myself down. ❤

So, here’s my starting point:

Front and Back Pics

As you can see there’s much to do for the next upcoming weeks.

Here’s my current daily macros:
Carbs: 120g
Protein: 150g
Fats: 96g

Weight: 132lbs

I’ve been doing cardio 3-4x a week at 30-45 mins. 2x a month I try joining in bootcamps which has a lot of calisthenics and plyos.
Here’s what my current strength training split looks like:
Day 1 – Back
Day 2 – Legs
Day 3- Rest
Day 4 – Chest
Day 5 – Shoulders
Day 6 – Arms
Day 7 – Rest

New Transformation Coming Right Up

I’m super excited. More than ever, I want to focus now in leaning out and get into gear to get my new transformation for this season.  I’ve built up in some areas in my body and now time to shed off the excess and reveal the new me.  I’ll be asking IFBB Pro Joe Palumbo to help me out to see what I look like the next 90 days to get prepped for a show.  He’s been good at giving out great advice and and has helped me get tips to do my exercises in the past correctly.   He’s helped out numerous other competitors, train individuals in crossfit, and trained groups in the police and military.  The coolest part is as an Infinite Labs pro athlete, he has a question and answer forum in to answer anyone’s questions:  Well, as it may, I’ll be seeking to see if Joe can help me out with his in-depth knowledge.  🙂

Colorado Vacation Contemplation

It’s only 7:30 am here in Breckinridge, CO, where the past few days have been packed with a lot of fun. We are staying here til Jan 2nd so there are more adventures ahead of us. However, I can’t help but pause for a moment and admire the Rocky beauty that surrounds the area.

The house we are staying in itself has a beauty of its own. It has such a homey feeling that one cannot help but feel warm and safe inside.

I’ve been wanting to stay someplace with a fireplace and ho and behold, there are two.

The living room, dining area, and kitchen are merged together, leaving a wide open space. Furthermore, the views from the windows reveal such a picturesque view.

Although I have a choice where my bedroom would be, I chose the smallest room with the least privacy (the loft) because of the outstanding view from the window.

And I must admit, it has been nice waking up with the moon shining amidst the trees and witnessing the sun rise as it envelopes the entire place with its rays.

A friend and I decided to take a nice short hike from the house while we wait for 2 pm to roll around so we can go snowboarding. We went into an unmarked trail, coming down from a steep hill but we were able to witness such a glorious sight that hardly anyone else in the group was able to experience. It felt that all the hard work of hiking down was worth the trip.

Now the biggest challenge was going up. We were so absorbed of what was in front of us that we didn’t think much about how we are going to get back.

Despite the challenge of going up, we did it without any complaints. We actually had so much energy, that we have taken a different direction and spotted more things to see. Our neighbors had icicles hanging from the roofs of their houses. So I had to just capture them in my pictures.

The house we are staying in is not frequented by too many individuals. Therefore the roads tend to still have snow on top.

And so we kept going and we ended up with this majestic breathtaking scene. The maps that we use for snowboarding finally made sense in front of us. And to our left are the gondolas that we used to get from Peak 8 to Peak 7 and vice versa.

We were definitely both very happy, feeling like we just entered a secret realm.

Well it’s finally 8:22 and the sun finally have risen. I can hear shuffling downstairs as the day begins for many more of us. But let me share these last pics with you.

What a treat to wake up to this first thing in the morning. I think I’ve fallen in love with this place.

Great Butt Workout!

To have those behinds look perky and ready for next season, I’ve been doing the abductors exercise.  This exercise triggers the group of muscles located on the buttocks including gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, and tensor fascia lata. Abductor%20Muscles2

The abductors’ main function is to abduct or separate your legs away from the midline of the body.  This occurs during any athletic movement requiring you to move from side to side such as playing the infield in baseball, defense in basketball and football, and ice skating.

At the gym, there is an abductor machine that will help shape your behind.  Here’s a video of me, hitting my new PR – 185 lbs! Have fun!

Improvement Season

Improvement season is here for me. Took a “break” from training this week (meaning I didn’t skip on going to the gym but rather didn’t have a specific training I’m following) to move into a new place and get myself ready for it. Received my off season nutrition and workout plans from my coach. Still looking through it so I understand all of the details and make sure that I set up my schedule accordingly. I’m so excited!!!

Slacked off quite  a bit in this blog but want to come back again just so I can keep a log of all different kinds of improvements during the season.  So many goals that I have for this season and I just want to focus. And for the blog, just for fun 🙂

Breaaathheeee… NOW GO!

This weekend, I realized that the few weeks I’ve been running on the fast lane has finally burning me out.  My oil needs some changing! So I decided to change the pace for this weekend before I run around again with my head cut off.

I finally got DONE with the first phase of the project I’m working on at work. But that doesn’t mean that I had any time to just chill since my inbox was filled to the brim this morning from this weekend.  Do they not know that I’m ALWAYS off on weekends??? 😛

Last Saturday, I went to watch a friend compete in his very first Strongman competition.  I realized that having a cheering section is VERY important to every athlete. So I try to make sure that I stop by every chance I get to support my friends.  Oh boy, those guys make me want to cower in a little corner when it comes to STRENGTH! Holy cow! I even tried lifting the 500 lbs. frame. AND my arms were about to fall off! I couldn’t even get the frame off the ground! I look like a silly little kid trying to lift a tree.

I was sunburned from being outside the entire day.  Looks like I had a white tattoo of a shirt plastered in my back. Can you say “OUCH”? Thank goodness that it wasn’t blistering!!!

Sunday, I had an opportunity to workout with Infinite Labs’s Elite Athlete, Jessie Ladson.  OMG, the man’s a beast! We were doing chest presses and he was putting on 3 in each side!!! That’s a total of 270lbs O.o for an incline chest press?  He was also doing 160lbs of reverse curls! While me on the meanwhile is doing 110lbs. 😛  I was really happy to have an opportunity to have a great workout partner! Oh, btw, do you know he’s an engineer? We got a lot of SMART people here in the Juggernaut Nation who has brawn AND brain! AWESOME!

Last day for the I Am Juggernaut Challenge is tomorrow! Don’t forget to spread the word around. Everyone needs to have a chance to be able to transform themselves!
